Course Summary

Media Studies is an exciting and challenging option. With the current job market as it is, Media is the fastest growing and one of the most popular degree choices.

If you are looking forward to a stimulating course that will be enjoyable, creative and analytical then this course is for you!

What will students learn?

The course involves the study of magazines, newspapers, film, television, radio and popular music.

How will students be assessed?

Coursework 60%:

3 Assignments – ranging from 500 words – 1000 words.

1 practical production (e.g. making a music video or creating an advertising campaign)

Exam 40%: – 1 hours and 30 minutes

The exam area is based on a pre-released topic. The exam itself will consist of a range of questions/tasks – some will test your knowledgeand understanding of the topic and others tasks will assess yourcreativity and practical skills.

The practical tasks could be to design the opening credits to a new television programme or to sketch out a new magazine front page….
