GCSE Dance offers you the chance to explore your creative side, focusing on choreography and performance skills, as well as developing your knowledge of famous choreographers in today’s dance world. |
What will students learn? |
You will learn about different styles of dance and see 6 professional works in those styles by famous choreographers. You will also learn how to choreograph your own dances and develop your own technique when performing. How will students be assessed? |
You will have a practical assessment worth 60% of your final grade and a written exam worth 40%. You will have to perform as a solo and in a group, as well as create your own choreography. |

Course summary |
BTEC level 3 National Extended Certificate in Performing Arts is a qualification which will encourage you to develop your creative and intellectual capacity, alongside transferable skills such as team work, communication and problem solving. This course allows you to look at historical and current practices in the performing arts industry, inspiring a lifelong passion and appreciation for the arts. You can perform in a style of your choice for the practical assessments, and must complete a written assessment as part of the mandatory unit. |
What will students learn? |
Unit 1- Investigating Practitioners’ Work Unit 2- Developing Skills for Live Performance Unit 3- Group performance workshop You will then pick 1 optional unit of your choice suited to your ability/talent, whether it is more dance, drama or music related. |
